Irlam clock

This Clock originally too pride of place on the Irlam council offices on Liverpool Rd c1907.

When this historic treasure was put up for sale due to the impending demolition of the Council Offices. The Clock was bought by Mr Gilbert Blundell from Nook Farm, Cadishead Moss, saying “This clock has served the district well over the years and I didn’t want it going on the scrap-heap. I am so delighted it is coming to the farm, it will be my new show piece”. It was duly re-sited on the front of a barn at Nook Farm where it kept the farm workers on Gilbert Blundell’s farm on time since 1963 as it could be seen from the fields almost half a mile away.

After several years, it once again had to be taken down prior to the barn’s demolition and sat in storage until it was generously donated to the Irlam and Cadishead History Society, who with the generous help of the Hamilton Davies Trust were able to get it restored to its former glory, by Horologist Phil Irvine, to take its place in the refurbished Irlam station in 2015.
